If hundreds of teens can do it, so can you.
What is your connection to the movie The Secret?
The only connection to the movie The Secret is that I worked 6 years in sales with one of the Secret Teachers, Bob Proctor. I sold the seminar The Science of Getting Rich which was based on a book by Wallace D. Wattles, written in 1909. This book is what motivated Rhonda Byrne to create the movie The Secret. I had met some of the Secret Teachers from working in the seminar industry with Bob Proctor, and many of them were serious students of his work, like me, and using the principles in their own lives to attain an incredible level of success. All of them have a serious understanding of the Laws of Success.
How did you learn these concepts?
I was first exposed to Bob Proctor in 1996, when I was a school teacher in Toronto, Canada. I lived next door to his Director of Sales, and asked him what he did for a living, since he seemed to live an exciting life. He gave me Bobs first book, You Were Born Rich, (that focuses on how we are all rich in potential and can live very fulfilled lives if we operate with certain success principles ) and I read it when I was sitting in a staff meeting at work. Shortly after that, I resigned as a teacher, and went to work with Bobs Staff, selling his personal development programs to attendees worldwide. Once you begin to study yourself, it becomes something you cannot take your mind away from, and you want to learn more. I spent most weekends studying whoever I could get my hands on. (Abraham-Hicks, Jack Canfield, Maxwell Maltz, all of Bob Proctors programs, Tony Robbins, Wayne Dyer, Sylvia Browne, and I also attended PSI Seminars where I was taught how to put this knowledge into practice in my life. I noticed that I did not truly understand the concepts while I was working with Bob. I started to understand them in theory, but the key for me was when I was starting to build my future, based on the success principles I has studied, and life got in the way. You hear it all the time, Life Just Happened. When things did not work for me the way I had wanted to, and I had to rebuild things from the ground up, well, that is when I started to use the principles I had learned. When times are difficult, it can be easy to blame others, but I had to keep my head above water, taking full responsibility for my results, until I liked what I saw. It took me about 3 years of practicing until I realized I was in control of my results, future and destiny. It was a very neat experience to realize this. I often read the books I knew word for word over again and again, until I had a sound understanding of the concept I was trying to master. There were many times I was frustrated, and didnt think the results would come, and I think that is why it took me so long to really get it. If I had a firmer belief in myself, I probably would have met with success a bit quicker.
What are your goals with this book?
I would like parents and teachers to be able to learn the concepts that are making such an impact of thousands of entrepreneurs who attend personal development seminars. Once adults understand and implement these concepts, it will be easier for them to work with their teens or students.
What is your background?
I started my career as a school teacher in Toronto, Canada, and my passion for personal development and youth leadership, led me to resign as a teacher and take a position in sales with Bob Proctor, teacher from the popular movie The Secret. After a few years of selling the SGR Seminar I became the Executive Director and Board Member of Bob Proctors Youth Mentor International. Working hand in hand with Bob Proctor changed the course of my life, as my goals very quickly became reality! I co-authored the book Living in Harmony by Natural Law (a book that helps people use the Law of Attraction and many others to life a more balanced life) after being coached and mentored by many of the teachers you see featured in The Secret. I then took my own personal goals to the next level when I moved to Phoenix, AZ, to pursue my dreams. It was here that I experienced some set backs, and unforeseen events caused me to have to start at the bottom of the totem pole, but with the concepts I learned from Bob Proctor, I was able to take my income from less than $20,000/year to over $100,000. I did this by staying focused on my goals, visualizing, maintaining a positive attitude and most importantly, putting in the effort and time to complete my goals. I even picked up the book I co-authored, to help me regain my course. I did learn from spending time with leaders in personal development, that everyone gets knocked off course from time to time, and its the winners that know how to get back on track! In 2006, my own mentoring program Mentoring Excellence Now won an award with the Easter Seals Foundation in Toronto, Canada, as I took over 100 youth with physical disabilities through a series of leadership lessons to assist them to make an impact with their lives and futures. I inspire everyone I meet to reach for higher ground and everyone who comes in contact with me will be urged to grow and learn more about themselves, and others. I know that life is truly about the path, not the destination and urge everyone to enjoy exactly where they are at this moment, in order for them to move ahead towards their dreams and desires that are there waiting for them, if only they can persist enough to see this. I am currently a sales representative for Pearson Digital Learning, selling software solutions to middle schools, high schools and higher educational markets to assist youth to complete their schooling and pursue their dreams. In Sept. 2007, my fianc and I attended a powerful leadership seminar called PSI Principia. It was here that I decided to move forward with The Secret for Teens (a book written for parents and teachers to understand the concepts from the movie The Secret so that they can expose the material to their children and whole family unit). I plans to conduct workshops on these powerful concepts and truths for youth, beginning the summer of 2008.
What are some hardships you have overcome using the power of your mind?
Everyone has road-blocks that will appear and try to knock us off course with our goals and dreams. Successful people find ways around these road-blocks. If you are serious about a goal, the first thing you will need is a mentor to help keep you on track, so that when things inevitably come up in your life, this person will help guide you back on course. I have had a bunch of mentors who continue to ask me where I am in relation to my goals that I have clearly stated I would be accomplishing. The next thing you will need is a clear picture of what you want, so that you remain clear as you move towards it. Some people use vision boards, other use goal cards that they carry with them, and there is also another way of listening to motivational works to keep you focused. I used all of these methods so that I stay focused on my end result. Finally, you must remain emotionally attached to your goal, so that even if you are tired and begin to lose hope with your dreams, you will have that inner strength that will keep you moving in the right direction. This inner strength will help you stay up late when you need to get something done, or work when you just might not have the energy. Once you begin doing the thing that you love, you will not be able to stop, and as a result, you will bring yourself closer to your goals.
Who do you know who has used these concepts successfully?
When I worked with Bob Proctor, I saw thousands of people using these concepts to bring desired results to them. Once in a blue moon, someone would call the office and complain that the concepts did not work, and that they had felt like they had wasted their money. After asking them a couple of questions on how they were using the material, it became clear that they were missing some very simple key steps, and they would be guided back on track towards their goals. I always did hear back from these people when their seemingly impossible goals were reached. Over a 6 year period, I met bar tenders in Hollywood who used the principles to land leading roles on popular television shows, significantly changing their lives overnight. I met coaches who worked with pro athletes with these concepts to accelerate results on the court or field. I met truck drivers who used the concepts to give them some peace of mind while they were on the road. I coached hundreds of young people, who all have attained astounding results in their lives. I am amazed at my own life and how much it continues to change as I work with these concepts.
What is your next project?
I will always remain a student of personal development and continue to learn more information myself. Where this path leads me, I am open everyday.
How do you recommend others use these concepts to attain their goals and dreams?
If you read the book, write down the answers that stick out to you in your mind, and notice the areas of your life that you need to make improvements. Focus on one thing at a time, and try one or two new concepts a month. Do not try to accomplish this new way of thinking all at once. It will not sink in, and you will be disappointed. Take your time, and have patience, and change will come to you inevitably.
